» E-Commerce Service Provider (aka ecommerce host, shopping cart host)
An ecommerce provider is a company that hosts a ready-made (and/or customizable) ecommerce shopping cart software solution on their servers (which may or may not be located in their own datacenter) to online merchants. Some ecommerce hosts host on Windows Servers (which means their software is usually an ASP based system, although Windows servers can run a few other types of websites like ColdFusion) while other hosts maintain Apache servers (which generally run Unix or other Linux "flavors" - this means php sites and others like it).
